I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning, and the end. [Revelation 21:6]
Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, I participated in an online study of the Book of Lamentations led by my associate rector. This study heightened my awareness of the universal need throughout history to give expression to experiences of loss, grief, and lament.
In processing the many challenges associated with the COVID 19 pandemic, I became aware that my sense of “shelter” was linked to my understanding of humankind’s enduring covenant with the God who is the Alpha and the Omega (the beginning and the end), the source and ground of all that was, is, and yet shall be. Even (or especially) in that time and season, I clung to the faithfulness of God’s compassion, love, and tender mercy.
The background “texture” for this digital collage (printed onto brushed aluminum) is the text of the hymn, “Love Divine, All Loves Excelling.” The biblical focus, which is placed in a circle that speaks to the wholeness that is found in God’s love, is Revelation 21:6.
