In the shadow of your wings, I will take shelter. [Psalm 57:1]
Early in the COVID-19 pandemic, I participated in an online study of the Book of Lamentations led by my associate rector. During this time, I became especially aware of times when I would momentarily find myself “in the shadow” of some of the large birds that populate the area where we live.
In the days of restricted movement during the COVID-19 pandemic, these experiences of standing “in the shadow” brought to mind the words of Psalm 57, which describe the shadow of God’s wings as a place of refuge and/or shelter.
The background “texture” for this digital collage (printed onto brushed aluminum) is the text of the hymn, “Thy Holy Wings.”
